I didn't start running until age 43, didn't do my first triathlon until 2014, and didn't start lifting until 2016. As an adult-onset triathlete and powerlifter, I love that my training and racing helps me stay healthy and fit so I can go out any day and do whatever I want: move furniture, hike the hills, go for a long ride in the Alabama heat, or run a marathon. I've been fortunate because my job allows me flexibility to train and to travel for races, and my love of aviation gives me a way to travel to races all over the place. As the father of three grown sons and keeper of a rambunctious pair of beagles-- and the property of a cat named Pancake-- I'm never short of things to do!
