I was a strong swimmer in high school and my younger years as I love the water and we spent our summers at the beach and pool nearby. I became an avid tennis player and I went on to play tennis in college at Duke University. I played tennis for many years after that achieving several New England Sectional Singles Rankings and National Senior Rankings in various age-group divisions. Then, it was time to turn the page, and I found the amazing sport of triathlon. I have many supportive friends who encouraged me along this new path- and I continue to find new goals and personal “firsts” that make this such a rewarding challenge. In my first race ever, I did not finish the swim! First race, first wetsuit, first open-water swim. Bad combination! By the end of the summer, I was better prepared and completed my first sprint race at Hammerfest in 2016, and made it to the podium in my age group. Two years later, I competed in my first Olympic distance was a finisher at a half marathon.
My goal this year is to compete in my first Half Ironman distance. Each time I get on my bike, or go for a run or swim, it brings me to wonderful places.
I have three beautiful grown children, Carrie, Jeff, and Becky and I live in Branford, CT.
