When I was younger, I loved playing sports I enjoyed being outside and being active with my friends. I loved playing soccer and biking, but hated running.
After college, my then girlfriend, now wife, who was a cross country runner in college, convinced me to do my first 5k. I was surprised to find that runners came in all sizes.
I first got into triathlon racing in 2012. In my second ever triathlon, my crank arm fell off my bike 1 mile from transition and I had to run the rest of the way pushing my bike. I finished the run and that’s when I fell in love with triathlons. In 2017, I ran my first marathon and did my first 70.3 Ironman. I’m training for my first full Ironman in 2021.
What I love most about triathlons is the camaraderie. Even during competitions, you’ll always hear a “good job” or “wow you’ve got huge calves.” I also love that the sport motivates me to stay active and healthy.
